Nominations for the 1996 Womancare Award sponsored by St. Francis Medical Center are being accepted.
Deadline for nominations is Feb. 1. The award, which recognizes women from the area who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement, will be presented at the Womancare Conference March 8.
Previous recipients have included astronaut and Jackson native Linda Godwin; opera singer and Cape Girardeau native Judith Farris; Cape Girardeau businesswoman Judith Wilferth; local journalist Judith Crow; Patricia Washington, a Cape Girardeau native and press secretary to St. Louis Mayor Freeman Bosley Jr.; and local author and Southeast Missourian columnist Jean Bell Mosley.
Nominations, including a brief summary of the nominee's personal achievements, may be sent by Feb. 1 to Edythe Davis, executive director of the St. Francis Foundation. Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee and the 1996 winner will be announced during the Pamper Yourself Night activities of the Womancare Conference.
