"We have a lot of questions," said Hovis.

The Cape Girardeau Major Case Squad has been activated, and will meet to discuss the case at 9 a.m. today.

"When I got up there were lights flashing," said neighbor Howard Gregory.

Police received the call that there had been a shooting at around 5:20 a.m.

Gregory said he thought the woman who lived in the house next door had two children, but that he did not know her very well.
