Woman pleads guilty to forging college transcript, will be sentenced next month

A 22-year-old woman who submitted a phony transcript to Southeast Missouri State University last year will be sentenced in May, Circuit Court Judge Benjamin F. Lewis decided Monday after the defendant pleaded guilty to the forgery charge.

Danielle M. Feagin, of Malden, Mo., told Lewis she committed forgery because the transcript, which was meant to look like a document from Three Rivers Community College, showed she obtained more credit hours and a higher grade point average than she actually did.

She said she hoped the transcript would gain her a quicker acceptance to Southeast.

The transcript showed Feagin received a 4.0 grade point average and 89 credit hours at Three Rivers, when she actually earned a 2.4 and accumulated 37 credits.

In addition, the document had a font not typically used on Three Rivers' transcripts, no page numbering and no watermark.

Feagin will be sentenced May 24.

Prosecutors said they are recommending she serve a suspended imposition of sentence and be assigned probation.
