WOMAN INJURED IN ACCIDENT

MOUNDS, Ill. -- A Cape Girardeau woman was injured in an accident Saturday and a Villa Ridge man was charged with leaving the scene of the accident.

Illinois State Police reported that Jennifer Schearer, 19, of Cape Girardeau, was injured in the accident on Mounds Road three miles west of Mounds at 11 a.m. Saturday. She was treated and released from St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Keith Duncan, 31, was issued a summons for allegedly leaving the scene of the accident, state police reported. He was not injured.

The police said Schearer was attempting to pass Duncan's pickup truck when Duncan made a left turn hitting Schearer's car. Schearer was issued a summons for improper passing, police said.
