WOMAN INJURED IN ACCIDENT

LILBOURN -- A Lilbourn woman was injured Friday afternoon after her vehicle struck another on Route D.

Shirley Goodson, 56, was transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center with moderate injuries after the accident, which happened a half-mile south of Lilbourn.

Goodson was southbound on Route D when she struck a 1998 Chevrolet truck driven by John Wescoat, 54, of New Madrid, in the rear, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Wescoat was not injured.

Smoke was apparently blowing across the road from a burning field, and Goodson's vehicle struck Wescoat's vehicle after Wescoat slowed down because of poor visibility, according to the highway patrol.

The accident occurred at 2:15 p.m.
