Woman hitting home among accidents highway patrol responded to Monday

Three motor vehicle accidents in Cape Girardeau and Scott counties kept the Missouri State Highway Patrol busy Monday.

The first accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. on US 61 south of Benton, Mo. A 2007 Chevrolet truck driven by Daphne R Medley, 45, of Vanduser, Mo., ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a highway sign, hit a house and then overturned.

Medley was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where she was treated for moderate injuries.

Then, at 6:38 p.m. near Morley, Mo., a three-car accident on Route C sent five people to Saint Francis Medical Center. Around 6:38 p.m. a 1995 Pontiac driven by Matthew B Butler, 22, of Diehlstadt, Mo., crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a 1984 GMC farm truck driven by Rondal K Evans, 58, of East Prairie, Mo.

The Pontiac then hit head-on a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Ryan K Taylor, 26, of Morley.

Butler and Taylor were treated for serious injuries. Passengers in the Malibu also sustained injuries. Christina A Patrick, 24, of Morley, was treated for moderate injuries while a three-year-old and an infant from Morley sustained minor injuries.

Further north, two Cape Girardeau residents were treated for moderate injuries in an accident near Fruitland. Around 8:45 p.m. on US 61 a 2007 Buick driven by Jerry N Morton, 73, of Jackson failed to yield. The vehicle was then struck by a 1990 Ford driven by Jennifer A Huffman, 30, of Cape Girardeau. While Morton did not sustain any injuries, Huffman and her 13-year-old passenger were taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center.
