SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A Springfield woman has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder after she drove drunk on the wrong side of the road, causing an accident that killed a former Ozarks Technical College instructor. Audrey Jeanette Driscoll, 42, pleaded guilty Monday in Greene County Circuit Court for the July 27 accident that killed Scott Beshears, 55, on U.S. 160. A charge of driving while intoxicated was dismissed and probation was denied for Driscoll, who faces a 15-year prison sentence. Court documents showed that Driscoll's blood alcohol level was 0.335 percent at the time of the accident. The legal limit to drive in Missouri is 0.08.
She had two prior DWI convictions in Greene County, and her driver's license had been revoked until 2009.
Beshears' family has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Driscoll.
