Desmond Lamario Woods, 35, of Cape Girardeau has been charged with second-degree domestic assault. A warrant for his arrest was filed Friday, but he still is at large, according to Cape Girardeau Police public information officer Adam Glueck.
Police went to the 2600 block of Hopper Road on Feb. 21 after a witness said she saw the victim being dragged by a vehicle before she dropped to the ground, according to the probable-cause statement from Cape Girardeau police officer James Goins.
The victim told police Woods came to the residence after they had argued over the phone, according to the statement. She continued to argue with him near the driver's side window of his vehicle when she said he punched her in the face, pulled her through the window and began to drive away, according to the statement. The victim said Woods released her, and she almost was hit by another vehicle as she fell, the report stated.
Glueck said the victim had cuts on her face and neck, among other injuries sustained during the incident.
Glueck also said officers were unable to find Woods when the report was taken. Woods' bond is set at $7,500, cash only.
