MORLEY -- A woman was killed Thursday in a car-train collision at a rural railroad crossing two miles west of Morley. The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the woman as Leanna Jones, 38, of Morley. MORLEY -- A woman was killed Thursday in a car-train collision at a rural railroad crossing two miles west of Morley.

The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the woman as Leanna Jones, 38, of Morley.

A spokesman for the patrol said Jones drove into the path of an oncoming train when she attempted to cross the tracks. Jones' car, a 1978 Ford, flipped over upon impact and she was thrown from the vehicle, the patrol said. She was the only occupant of the car.

Jones was transferred by helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau where she died at 1:04 p.m., the patrol said. The accident occurred at 11:55 a.m.

The train, a Burlington Northern freight train, was traveling north at the time of the accident, the patrol said. The accident occurred along Scott County Road 416.

Don Sheeley, 60, of Chaffee was the engineer of the train, the patrol said.
