Woman charged with recklessly exposing others to HIV

ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Authorities are looking for anyone who had sexual contact with a woman now charged with recklessly exposing partners to HIV.

Angela D. Harris, 26, of St. Charles, has been charged with three felony counts in connection with a two-month-long sexual relationship with a 42-year-old former boyfriend. That man has tested negative for HIV, but he must undergo additional testing because the virus can still show up.

Two other men, both prison inmates, have also come forward to say they had unprotected sex with Harris without knowing she had tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS. Both men have tested positive for HIV.

Capt. Gerry Pollard of the St. Charles Police Department said Harris and her mother have confirmed that Harris has had as many as 100 sexual partners in the past four or five years. He said the women are cooperating with detectives who are trying to compile a list of the men.

Harris is jailed at the Missouri Women's Eastern Correctional Center in Vandalia, where she is being held on a parole violation.

Harris was only 14 years old when she was diagnosed with HIV after having a miscarriage.

Court records show she has previous convictions for stealing, forgery and burglary.
