BENTON, Mo. -- A woman has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle after it was recovered in Cape Girardeau.
Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter stated in a news release that at approximately 8:20 a.m. Saturday, senior deputy Matt Scroggins responded a residence in Benton in reference to a stolen vehicle.
The complainant reported he had allowed Kyla Miller, 26, to stay at his home beginning Aug. 31; however, on Thursday morning, he noticed that Miller and his vehicle were gone. The complainant stated he did not give Miller permission to take the vehicle.
A Cape Girardeau police officer located the stolen vehicle on Park Street in Cape Girardeau, according to the sheriff's report. Miller, who was in possession of the vehicle when it was recovered, was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail.
