A Sikeston, Missouri, woman is accused of beating her son with a baseball bat and threatening to kill herself with a shotgun on New Year's Eve.
Jerry L. Summers, 39, of Sikeston was arrested Thursday by Scott County sheriff's deputies and was charged with second-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest, both felonies.
Deputies went to the 100 block of Matt Street in Sikeston on Thursday and contacted the victim, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff's Department.
The victim told police he was in an argument with Summers, who began hitting him and eventually picked up a baseball bat. She used the bat to strike him several times, including once in the face, according to the news release.
The victim said Summers got a shotgun and told him she was going to kill herself, and he left the room, according to the news release. Deputies said the victim had a badly swollen jaw.
Summers resisted arrest by walking away from the deputies when they tried to place her in handcuffs, the release stated. Bond was set at $5,000.
