EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- A St. Louis woman is jailed in southwestern Illinois on charges she schemed to use stolen credit cards to buy iPads and other electronic items.

The (Alton) Telegraph reported prosecutors in Madison County have charged 44-year-old Valerie Cuevas with several counts of unlawful use of a credit card and aggravated identity theft.

Glen Carbon Police Detective David Zarr said the scheme stretches from southeastern and central Missouri to the Madison County, Ill., area.

The investigation continues.

Online court records don't show whether Cuevas has an attorney, and she does not have a listed home telephone number.
