Wolohan Lumber Co. has agreed to acquire a group of seven retail stores owned by the Fisher Big Wheel retail chain.
The acquisition will give the Wolohan group, based at Saginaw, Mich., a total of 60 stores.
"The seven-store acquisition is the largest growth in a single step in the company's 29-year history," said James L. Wolohan, president and chief executive officer. "We are extremely enthusiastic about the prospects for these stores, and look forward to bringing our complete lineup of quality products and value-added services to the new group of customers."
All of the new stores are in Michigan: at Alma, Charlotte, Greenville, Plainwell, Sault Ste. Marie, South Haven, and Three Rivers.
"This brings the total number of Wolohan stores to 23 in Michigan," said Wolohan.
Wolohan, which operates stores in seven states, has stores in Cape Girardeau and Marion, Ill. One new store will open this year in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Wolohan posted record sales of $344 million in 1992.
