SCOTT CITY -- A "Winter Wonderland" in the Scott City Community Park will be unveiled Friday night.
The local fire and parks departments will sponsor the Christmas celebration at 7 p.m. Activities will include a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, the official lighting of the fire department's Tree of Lights and caroling led by the Broadway Methodist Choir.
About 15 organizations, churches and businesses have participated in creating the Winter Wonderland with lights and decorations, said Phyllis Spinks, parks and recreation director. The scenes will be on display in the park until 10 each night until Jan. 3.
Spinks believes the display of Christmas lights again will be appreciated by those who visit the park during the holiday season. This is the sixth consecutive year for the light display, she said.
"The popularity of drive-through Christmas light displays is apparent every year throughout the area," Spinks said. "We hope Friday's celebration and the holiday displays will bring Christmas cheer to many people."
