The National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky, has issued a winter storm watch for Wednesday and Thursday, with four to six inches of snow possible.
Heavy rain and a few storms are possible today.
Today's high will reach 50 degrees, but temperatures will plummet into the 20s. Rain will change to sleet and snow early Wednesday morning.
Snowfall will continue through early Thursday morning, the weather service reported, with the highest accumulations expected Wednesday afternoon and evening.
The winter storm watch begins at 6 a.m. Wednesday and continues through 6 a.m. Thursday.
Snowfall totals are expected to range from four to six inches, generally north and west of a line from Rockport, Indiana, to Dexter, Missouri, with six to 10 inches possible south and east of that line, according to the weather service.
