The Southeast Missouri State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will tour St. Louis area schools March 16-18.
Schools included on the tour are Festus High School, Windsor High School, Herculaneum High School, St. Charles High School, Parkway South, Parkway West, St. Louis Community College at Forest Park and Jefferson College.
The program will include works by Johan de Meij, Edward Gregson, Ingolf Dahl, Percy Grainger, Clifton Williams, Alexandre Guilmant, Peter Tanner and Claude T. Smith.
Feature soloists will be Marc Fulgham, instructor of trumpet; Lynne Bevfoden, graduate student percussionist; and Travis Laws, graduate student euphonium player.
The Southeast Symphonic Wind Ensemble, a select band of 41 members, has established a reputation for musical excellence and has recently been selected through competitive auditions to perform at three conferences of the Missouri Music Educators Association and twice at the Southwestern Division Meeting of the College Band Directors National Association.
The ensemble also has premiered several new works for wind band and has presented the first American performances of works written by European composers.
