CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The 1991 Southeast Missouri Honors Wind Ensemble will present a concert in Rose Theatre on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The band is comprised of 50 high-school students chosen by audition from among several hundred young people representing 40 Missouri schools.
The program will include original band works by American composers Robert Jager, Jack Stamp and David Maslanka; a Scotish folk song arranged by Percy Grainger; the second performance of the Cape Girardeau March written by Norwegian composer Geir Knutson; and the premiere of An American Trinity.
The last piece was composed by James Erdman of Cape Girardeau on a commission from the Southeast Missouri School Band Association.
The Honors Wind Ensemble will be conducted by Southeast Missouri State University professor of music and coordinator of winds and percussion, Dr. Robert Gifford.
