The work of a Doniphan artist known for Missouri waterfowl and trout stamps will be the August exhibit at Gallery 100.
The artist, Eileen Melton, will be present at an opening reception on Aug. 4 at the gallery from 2-4 p.m. Anyone may attend.
Melton said she dabbled in art throughout her childhood but didn't begin a serious career in it until 1980, after her children had married and her husband had retired.
She now works in a studio overlooking a small lake in the Missouri Ozarks. She has won awards and contracts with such wildlife organizations as Ducks Unlimited, the Missouri Wildlife Conservation Federation and the North Carolina Wildlife Federation.
She competes nationally in approximately 25 juried wildlife art shows and crafts festivals from February to December each year.
Melton is concerned about wildlife preservation and hopes to make people more aware of the need to be concerned about the animals in their habitat.
The exhibit features original watercolor paintings of wildlife, florals landscapes, and limited edition prints. It will be open through Aug. 30. Normal gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. weekdays.
