A man was struck Thursday night in a Cape Girardeau hit-and-run attack, and his wife is the accused driver.

The 43-year-old man was struck by the vehicle around 5:02 p.m. at 1210 S. Benton St., according to police Sgt. Barry Hovis.

The accused driver of the vehicle was the man's 46-year-old wife, Hovis said. She fled from the scene in the vehicle but was arrested an hour later.

The husband was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, but the severity of his injuries were not immediately known.
