Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Scott City and Notre Dame Regional High School were among many area districts and schools that canceled Friday classes.

Many area schools were already reporting Friday closings to media outlets Thursday, and some local schools have alerted parents and students to Friday closings using the Southeast Missourian's text message system.

Schools listed with Friday closings on the KZIM-KSIM radio website as of 11:30 p.m. included:

  • Immaculate Conception in Jackson
  • Immanuel Lutheran in Perryville, Mo.
  • Jackson public schools
  • Kelly school district
  • Kelso C-7
  • Leopold
  • Meadow Heights
  • Metro Business College
  • Nell Holcomb
  • Oak Ridge school district and early learning center
  • Oran
  • Perry County School District (Perryville)
  • Saxony Lutheran High School
  • Scott City
  • Scott County Central
  • Southeast Missouri College of Nursing
  • St. Ambrose in Chaffee, Mo.
  • St. Augustine in Kelso, Mo.
  • St. Denis in Benton, Mo.
  • St. Joseph in Scott City
  • St. Mary Cathedral School in Cape Girardeau
  • St. Vincent de Paul in Cape Girardeau
  • St. Paul Lutheran in Jackson
  • Trinity Lutheran in Cape Girardeau
  • Zalma
