The work of local artist Herb Wickham will be on display at Gallery 100 today through Oct.28.
The show is titled "Views on Impulse" and can be seen at 1707 Mount Auburn Road from 1-4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. An opening reception will be held for the public to meet Wickham today from 5-7 p.m.
"Views on Impulse" is a collection of paintings and drawings that display Wickham's eye for detail, artistic dedication and sense of humor. Landscapes, portraits, architecture and interior paintings will be on display. There also will be a life-size cutout of Wickham and a caricature by the artist's son.
Herb Wickham was featured on the cover of the May issue of TBY. A retired high-school art teacher, Wickham's 31-year career as an educator affected both his attitude and technique as an artist. "In the classroom you only have 50 minutes to teach something," said Wickham.
