A Whitewater woman received serious injuries in a car accident on Saturday.

Ann M. Gooch, 26, was airlifted to Southeast Missouri Hospital after an accident that occurred about 11 a.m. Gooch was a passenger in a 1986 Ford driven by Mark A. Gooch, 29, also of Whitewater. The Gooches, who had been driving north, were making a left turn off of Route A approximately one-tenth of a mile from Whitewater when a car driven by Roy Walther, 48, of Jackson struck the Gooches' car in the passenger side. Both cars were damaged beyond repair, the Highway Patrol said.

Mark Gooch received minor injuries and was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital by ambulance.

Walther was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation, the Highway Patrol said.
