A 14-year-old boy was in critical condition Wednesday after the all-terrain vehicle he was riding overturned in rural Cape Girardeau County Wednesday.

Police reports indicate the victim, Andrew Rhodes, was riding on a four-wheeler driven by another 14-year-old, Aaron Kinder. Both boys are from Whitewater, Mo.

The accident occurred about 3:45 p.m., when the all-terrain vehicle, traveling west on County Road 472, ran off the north side of the road into a ditch, hit a culvert and flipped twice.

Rhodes was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center where he was listed in critical but stable condition late Wednesday.
