Larry Gene Hottel, 45, of Whitewater pleaded guilty Friday to violating an order of protection and peace disturbance.
Hottel was sentenced to time served as part of a plea deal negotiated by Cape Girardeau County assistant prosecuting attorney Sara Koppenaal and defense attorney Jason Tilley. Hottel served 10 days in the Cape Girardeau County Jail in June.
As a part of the plea, Hottel admitted to initiating communication with neighbor Kristy Strop on June 5, yelling at her that he "had a bigger gun than she did." Strop had an order of protection against Hottel based on events of Thanksgiving evening in 2015. Hottel drove his vehicles in a field between their houses, fired guns and made threats to kill their entire family, according to a probable-cause statement from Cape Girardeau County sheriff's deputy Ben Juergens. Hottel received six months in jail after pleading guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest charges this past year, all of which he served while waiting on court hearings.
On the peace disturbance charge from June 7, Hottel admitted to threatening Mike Lowry.
