Five law enforcement and fire and rescue agencies spent 45 minutes extricating a Whitewater man involved in an accident Wednesday morning. Trooper Aaron Harrison of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said that at 10:36 a.m. he was notified Steven Burrus, 52, had driven his 1997 GMC truck off the roadway and overturned in a wooded area while traveling on Route A, one-and-a-half miles west of Highway 25 at Dutchtown. The GMC was totaled. Burrus was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center, where he was treated for moderate injuries. The highway patrol, Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, Gordonville Fire Department, Cape County Private Ambulance and the Cape Girardeau Fire and Rescue responded to the accident.
