A car salesman has the perfect job, says first-grader Jamie Pickel.
"When they get new cars in, you can drive them," he explained. "And you can drive the new trucks too."
Pickel says a good salesman must know his product. So as a good car salesman, he would need to spend lots of time behind the wheel.
"Some of the cars are really special," he explained, selling his career choice. "Some can go real fast."
Of course, another key to good salesmanship is marketing. "You need a lot of signs," Pickel said. "You have to tell people where to go to find the cars and the trucks."
Salesmen likely have to go to "a special school" before hitting the car lots. "You have to learn how it all works," Pickel said.
Occasionally, car salesmen develop bad reputations, but Pickel can't imagine a car salesman who isn't honest and polite.
"You have to be nice so people will buy a car from you," he explained.
Pickel remembers accompanying his parents as they went car shopping. He admired the rows and rows of shiny vehicles and that shopping trip sparked his interest.
"You know, I see all the cars on the lots when we drive by," he said. "I think it's really neat."
