Martika Nation is a shy first-grader in Carol Reimann's class at Clippard Elementary School. Though she's not outspoken about many things, what she wants to be when she grows up is already decided in her mind.
"I want to be a coach just like my P.E. teacher, Coach Williams," said Martika confidently. "I really like him and his class is a lot of fun. I like playing and learning stuff."
Martika says that she and her classmates exercise, jump rope and do the "dog walk" in their physical education classes.
"I practice the 'dog walk' every day," says Martika. "I don't fall when I do it because I practice at night which makes me really tired. Coaches have to practice."
Martika explained that the picture she drew shows her coaching her sister and friends in their kindergarten class.
"I want to coach my sister's class," Martika said. "My picture shows them jumping on one foot. I'm not good at that but I can teach them how to do it and how to jump backwards, which I'm really good at. That would be fun."
She's not sure if she would make a lot of money or not, but Martika says that's not important in being a coach. She says the best thing is having fun.
"I know I'll have to go to school for a year and wear a whistle with my necklace," said Martika. "But I really want to be a coach because I like P.E. and sports."
