Harold Werner Jr. has returned to work at Super D Discount Drug, 2281 Broadway, as the store's new manager, bringing with him some changes for the business.
"I used to work here a while back as the assistant manager," Werner said.
He left Super D to start the Shop 'n Save pharmacy in Cape Girardeau. "I started that pharmacy from scratch," he said.
"I left there to come here and become the store manager," Werner said.
Under his management, Werner said Super D will return to more of a traditional drug store.
"We are going to cater to the needs of the public," he said.
"We are going to be trying to cater more to the medical field and will handle less general merchandise," he added. "For example, we used to sell TVs here. We're getting rid of that."
A remodeling project is under way to help toward that goal.
"We're cleaning the store up to make it more presentable and give it a fresh new look," Werner explained.
A grand re-opening is planned Aug. 19, when the remodeling is expected to be complete.
Werner, a registered pharmacist, started his new position on July 20. He is a native of Cape Girardeau.
"Basically, what we're trying to do is put this back to the drug store setting," he said.
