The National Weather Service has confirmed that several small tornadoes are to blame for damage in Southeast Missouri during Wednesday's storms.
An EF1 tornado with peak winds of 95 mph struck at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday about 3 miles northwest of Neely's Landing in northern Cape Girardeau County, according to a damage report posted Sunday on the National Weather Service's Paducah, Ky., office website.
The tornado's path stretched more than two miles long and 200 yards wide. It resulted in snapped and uprooted trees, roof damage to one house and rolled back the tin roof on a small barn.
An EF1 tornado in Madison and Bollinger counties struck at 5:27 p.m. Wednesday damaging hundreds of trees with its 100 mph winds.
This 200-yard wide tornado started one-and-a-half miles south of Marquand in Madison County and continued for 13 miles to one-and-a-half miles west of Alliance in Bollinger County.
An EF0 tornado was confirmed one-and-a-half miles southeast of Benton, Mo., just south of the Interstate 55 exit. The 40-yard-wide tornado had peak winds of 70 mph as it traveled for a half-mile. It began at 6:40 p.m., causing damage to trees on both sides of the interstate.
An EF0 tornado was conformed in Perry County, six-and-a-half miles southwest of Silver Lake, along Route BB. This tornado, striking at 4:51 p.m., had peak winds of 75 mph. It's path was 50 yards wide and a half-mile long.
No injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of any of these storms.
