The children at Wednesday K.I.D.S. are part of an after school club dedicated to teaching Christian values. They meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays in the church basement fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.

The program is open to all religious denominations and those without a religious denomination as well. The program is set up for children in first through fifth grades.

To begin with, the children learn about the gifts they all possess and how to share them with others. The value of spiritual gifts and the value of just making some new friends are ongoing priorities. Soon the children will learn more about the life of Jesus.

The Rev. Grant Gillard of First Presbyterian said, "I'm encouraged because it provides another opportunity for kids to come to church and learn about what church is."

During this informal time the kids can do alternative activities such as learn church songs and Bible stories.

There are snacks available in the Wednesday K.I.D.S. -- kids in divine service -- program.

People can join the program by calling 243-4265 for information.
