ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Webster University on Monday announced what it described as the largest gift bestowed in the school's nearly 100-year history.
The $10 million gift came from former U.S. Ambassador George H. Walker III.
Walker once served as the university's board chairman. He has designated the gift for Webster's School of Business and Technology.
Walker said he made the donation because he believes in the university's worldwide mission and its ability to educate students who cannot afford to attend more expensive institutions.
Webster University is an international, multi-campus university, headquartered in St. Louis.
Founded in 1915 as a small private college, Webster now offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs through five schools and colleges.
