Students in the Cape Girardeau School District will attend school on days that were originally scheduled for spring break to make up for winter weather cancellations.
Passing over a recommendation from superintendent Mark Bowles, the Cape Girardeau School Board voted at Monday night's board meeting in favor of holding classes for half a day on Good Friday, April 18, as well as a whole day the following Monday, April 21.
The board also voted to extend the school calendar to include June 5, 6, 9 and 10 to makeup for the total seven days that have been missed this year due to snow.
Bowles has originally recommended that all of the makeup days be added to the end of the year, because the current school calendar was adopted with that stipulation.
