Weather service: High heat likely, strong storms possible

The National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky., is warning of high heat this afternoon and a slight risk of severe storms.

In a hazardous weather outlook issued Tuesday, the weather service put Southeast Missouri in a slight risk of severe storms Tuesday afternoon and evening, with damaging winds, hail and flooding possible.

The heat index could reach 100 to 105 degrees Tuesday, as well. High temperatures for the remainder of the week should top out in the low to mid-80s after reaching the low 90s Tuesday.
