The Missouri Department of Transportation reported via news release just before 1:30 p.m. that one lane on the northbound side of Interstate 55 had reopened near the Pemiscot/New Madrid County line at mile marker 32, not far from the Arkansas border.
Both sides of the road had been closed due to weather and a crash. MoDOT said congestion is a problem on the northbound side, however.
The agency also reported around 1:30 p.m. that an overturned tractor-trailer was blocking a lane on northbound I-55 near mile marker 93 in Cape Girardeau County.
And just before 2 p.m. the agency reported another crash had closed southbound lanes in New Madrid County.
MoDOT cited a crash and "worrisome weather conditions" as the reasons for the closure in the Bootheel. MoDOT said travelers on southbound I-55 could take exit 44 to leave the interstate, and re-enter at mile marker 32.
A reopening time wasn't initially available, though MoDOT pledged to send out updates.
In some spots of Southeast Missouri, snow had limited visibility to a quarter-mile, MoDOT said.
