SIKESTON -- Internationally known artist Susan Blackwood will be teaching a three-day watercolor painting workshop, beginning Monday.
The workshop will be taught at the Sikeston High School G Building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The cost is $50 for members of the Sikeston Art League and $90 for non members.
Blackwood will be teaching florals in watercolor.
On Sunday, a reception and exhibit of her works will be held at the Susan Street Studio, 427 S. Kingshighway, beginning at 7 p.m.
"We feel privileged to be able to host an artist of this stature," said Aaron Horrell, president of the Sikeston Art League. "And we encourage the public to meet the artist and see her beautiful paintings at the reception."
Bold design and vibrant use of color characterizes Blackwood's work. She owns a gallery and frameshop in Montana.
"I'm an environmental painter," she explains. "I paint what is around me. It can be anything from florals to animals and children," she said.
