Walkers will take steps Sunday to raise money for the American Heart Association.
A HeartWalkers fund-raising walk is planned from 2-4 p.m. at three locations in the city, Cynthia Seabaugh, Southeast Regional Coordinator for the American Heart Association.
"I feel like this is an open house. People can come in any time during the two hour period and walk as long as they would like, 10 minutes or the whole two hours," said Seabaugh.
The walk will kick off at 2 p.m. with many participants in the HeartWalkers program, a 16-week walking program for senior citizens. About 90 people are participating in the weekly program.
People will be walking at the Human Performance Center, the St. Francis Medical Center Rehabilitation Department track and the St. Francis outdoors fitness trail.
"We're hoping to have around 150 people walking," said Seabaugh.
The money will be given to the American Heart Association to replenish the funds used for the HeartWalkers program.
Prizes will be awarded in age groups and for those raising the most money.
Individuals may still participate in the fund raiser by contacting the St. Francis Heart Institute.
