'The true test to determine whether your task in life is done is to ask yourself, are you still here? If the answer is yes, then you are not finished' "Illusions" by Richard Bach.
This is the creed that the new District Mr. Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) lives by, Quinton Walker.
The Bernie High School senior received the distinguished honor at the District FBLA competition, and competed against students from Kennett, New Madrid, Caruthersville, Bloomfield, Richland, Portageville, Bernie, Malden, Holcomb, Dexter, Southland and others.
A preliminary interview, written test and resume of accomplishments were part of the competition. Walker says that by taking part in FBLA, he has become more aware of the ever changing business world. He plans to go to college and major in either business economics or biomedical research .
Walker says that the people who instilled his work ethic in him the most were his parents.
"They started their business in the basement and have grown to have offices all over," said Walker. "I have watched them work 12 to 14 hour days in the beginning to make sure everything was important.
Walker says he is excited about the chance to go to the state level and compete for the state Mr. FBLA title. He says that it would be great to represent the chapter on a national level.
