Guest artist and baritone Brian Leeper will present a voice recital at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in Old St. Vincent's Church.
Leeper holds a bachelor's degree in choral conducting from Luther College and a master's degree in voice performance from the University of Nebraska. He now is completing his doctoral degree in music at Florida State University.
A lyric baritone, Leeper performs in oratorio, opera and recitals, and has appeared with numerous opera companies and symphony orchestras in the United States.
He currently is an assistant professor of music at Western Illinois University in Macomb, where he is director of an opera workshop and madrigal singers, and a teacher of voice.
Pianist Valerie Trujillo will assist Leeper.
The two will perform the famous cycle Schwanengesang (the Swan's Song) composed by Schubert in 1828.
Trujillo serves on the voice faculty of Florida State University, where she is assistant professor of accompanying. A native of Sante Fe, N.M., she received a degree in vocal coaching at the University of Illinois.
