Glenneta Vogelsang of Cape Girardeau attended the 1997 Mid-Year Conference of Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars held April 2-5 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She is a former national president of the auxiliary.
Speaker was James E. Nier of El Paso, Texas, VFW commander-in-chief.
A highlight of the conference was the presentation of the Better World Award to actres Deidre Hall by national president Eileen Tanner of Rockford, Ill.
Hall was honored for efforts to help children and is donating the $5,000 which accompanies the award to the Para Los Ninos (For The Children) organization.
Portraying the role of Dr. Marlena Evans on "Days of Our Lives" for 17 years, she has received five Best Actress awards from Soap Opera Digest.
She also starred in the series "Our House" and received two Peoples Choice award nominations. She was recently in the miniseries "Op Center," and her autobiographical movie "Never Say Never -- The Deidre Hall Story."
