SPRINGFIELD -- Two Cape Girardeau residents remain hospitalized two days after their car was struck and overturned on Hwy. 60 near Springfield.
Orville Krauss, 65, and his wife Deloris, 60, were involved in an accident at about 4:25 p.m. Monday. The accident occurred just outside Rogersville about 10 miles east of Springfield.
Orville Krauss is the adult education coordinator at the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational-Technical School. The couple was attending a weeklong Missouri Vocational Association conference in the area with other vocational school administrators.
A vo-tech school spokesperson said Tuesday she had spoken with the couple, who said they had sustained various cuts and bruises but were otherwise in good condition. They are expected to remain hospitalized at least two more days.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Krauss' were headed westbound on Hwy. 60 when a vehicle driven by Dwight Bethum, 46, of Springfield failed to yield as it crossed the highway.
The Krauss vehicle skidded off the highway and overturned. The couple sustained serious injuries.
Orville Krauss was taken by ambulance to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Deloris Krauss was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
Bethum suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield.
