Your opinion of Cape Girardeau's programs and services are important enough to the Vision 2000 Community Relations Council to warrant a second 1994 Community Attitude survey.
"The opinions of those who participate in the 1994 Community Attitude survey will have an impact on the community's priorities," Jeff Krantz, Vision 2000 project coordinator, said.
"The results of both surveys will go to the city council some time in February," he said.
Thirteen questions are on the second survey, which should be filled out, cut out of the newspaper and mailed to Vision 2000, 401 Independence, Cape Girardeau, Mo., 63701.
"We want to use this as a brainstorming tool to learn what people feel about the programs and services they are getting," Krantz said.
He said questions about leadership in city government or education aren't meant to target an individual.
"We don't want people to single out one person and say he or she is doing a good or bad job," he said. "We want you to take in the entire leadership team and think about the direction it is taking."
The results of the first survey, which was mailed to every 12th registered voter in the city of Cape Girardeau in October, will be available in January.
Of the 1,500 registered voters who received the first survey, 500 participated.
"The last survey in 1987 had a higher percentage of participants, but we sent more surveys out this year," Krantz said.
"We felt that we still needed to get responses from a wider cross section of the city's population," he said. "This is the way we feel we can accomplish that."
