Several Mineral Area College students attended a candlelight vigil Sunday night in Bismarck, Mo., mourning the loss and celebrating the life of fellow student Ericka Wade. Wade, 20, and four others were killed last week in what police believe was a murder-suicide.
College spokeswoman Sarah Haas said counseling is ongoing at the college, and that counselors have helped several students since the slayings a week ago. The college also dedicated its theatrical performances of "Back to the 80s" in honor of Wade, who was involved in the production.
Police say 25-year-old Nathan Fortner shot to death his ex-girlfriend Danielle Bement, 19, her mother, Christine Snider, and Snider's boyfriend Derek Nash at an apartment in Bonne Terre, Mo., duplex, and then turned the gun on himself. Police later found Wade's body in nearby Washington County, Mo., and believe her death is connected with the others.
