Robert L. McNeely, head of McNeely and Associates, a television production company, will be the guest speaker at the Sept. 14 general membership meeting of the Historical Association of Greater Cape Girardeau.
The meeting will be held in the activities room at Chateau Girardeau beginning at 7 p.m.
McNeely will present out-takes from a video he is developing covering the 200 years of Cape Girardeau's history and development. This is the first time a production of this type has been produced for the city. The story is told through artwork from local artists, old photos and current video footage of the city.
In his presentation, McNeely will discuss some of the challenges encountered in producing the video and outline the benefits he hopes the community will receive from the video. He envisions the video being used as a tourism tool, in the school classroom and by historical groups to preserve and promote Cape Girardeau's heritage.
A reception will follow the showing of the video excerpts.
