The VFW Post 3838 and auxiliary brought home many awards from the state convention held last weekend in St. Louis.
Judy Thrower was named an outstanding district president. Charles Thrower served as state inspector, Calvin Vogelsang served as state budget chairman, and Glennetta Vogelsang was budget chairman for the ladies auxiliary.
Awards were won for Cancer Aid and Research donations, community activities recordbook, with 15th district chairman Jewell Lincecum from Auxiliary 3838 named as outstanding chairman.
Sandi Goodheart, outgoing auxiliary 3838 president, received a membership recruiting award and district chairman Phyllis Jackson, Auxiliary 3838, received an outstanding publicity award.
The district newsletter won first place and the post and auxiliary received political action awards and safety awards.
Installed or appointed were Jack Latimer, Post 10495 in Jackson, as 15th District Commander; Goodheart as district president; Calvin Vogelsang as state budget chairman and Charles and Judy Thrower as state youth activity and Voice of Democracy chairmen.
