The Cape Girardeau Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3838, and the Auxiliary provided Christmas baskets for 110 families in the Cape Girardeau area.
The VFW post also purchased Christmas toys for 90 children, using proceeds from their annual Chili Day.
The VFW has prepared and given Christmas baskets for approximately 40 years. Initially, the baskets were given to members and their families. Today, the baskets are given to needy families throughout the community.
The Christmas basket program is among the number of community service projects in which the VFW participates.
