Members of area American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Units presented the Cape Girardeau Missouri Veterans' Home with a new bingo machine and a nearly-new Spinet piano.

The new bingo machine, with wall-mounted flashboard for the home's dining room, was presented by American Legion Auxiliary Home Representative Barbara Yallaly, who had solicited funds from auxiliary units.

The Chaffee American Legion Auxiliary donated half the funds for the machine. Other donations came from Hornersville, Perryville and Cape Girardeau auxiliary units.

Barbara Rawls of Malden, American Legion 14th District Auxiliary president, presented the piano, the 1992-93 "Presidents Project" Funds for the piano will come from 14th District Auxiliary Units from throughout Southeast Missouri.

The piano was placed in the Alzheimers wing and will be used for sing-alongs and other musical activities.

American Legion Posts and Auxiliary units provide over a quarter of the 20,000 annual volunteer hours at the Veterans Home and have made cash and equipment donations of over $10,000 since the home opened two years ago.
