Salutatorian: Gregory Reid Miller, 18, of Cape Girardeau, son of Hershel and Barbara Miller. Greg will attend Southeast Missouri State University in the fall, and received the university's Curator Scholarship and the Bright Flight Scholarship. He plans on majoring in chemistry.

Delta High School

Valedictorian: Allen Rhodes, 18, of Whitewater, son of Mike and Brenda Rhodes. Allen received the Southeast Missouri State University Regents Scholarship, Spartec Union Officials Scholarship and the Booster Club Achievement Award. He plans to major in engineering.

Salutatorian: Amy Elfrink, 18, of Whitewater, daughter of Gerald and Carol Elfrink. She received the Southeast Missouri State University Regents Scholarship, Lone Star Scholarship, Advance Knights of Columbus Scholarship, Yvonne Neal Scholarship and the National Honor Society Scholarship. Amy plans to major in education.

Jackson High School

Valedictorian: Jamie Dost, 18, of Jackson, daughter of Gary and Sheri Dost. She received 2000 Missouri Award for Outstanding Achievement in Citizenship, Bright Flight Scholarship. Was active in Student Council, FBLA, HI-STEP, Teen Spirit, and Vice President of her class. Jamie will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Salutatorian: Michael B. Williams, 18, of Jackson, son of Fred and Charlene Williams. He was named one of Missouri's top 100 students his senior year, was active in FBLA and was captain of the Scholar Bowl team. Michael plans to attend the University of Chicago.

Scott County Central High School

Valedictorian: Kendal Heeb, 18, of Morley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Conn. She received Provost Scholarship from Southwest Baptist, Southeast Missouri State University Regents Scholarship, National Beta Club Scholarship, Sam Walton Community Scholarship, Sikeston Elks Lodge 2319 Scholarship, Morley Community Betterment Scholarship. Kendal will attend Southeast.

Salutatorian: Andy Alberson, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Alberson. Andy received the CTA Scholarship and will attend the University of California-Los Angeles.

Leopold High School

Valedictorian: Gwen Vandeven, 18, of Leopold, daughter of Roger and Sheryl Vandeven. She received the Curator's Freshman Scholarship from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Bright Flight Scholarship, the Della Mabel Wright Scholarship, the Southeast Missouri State University Governor's Scholarship. Gwen will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Salutatorian: Jason Van de Ven, 18, of Leopold, son of Roy and Sharon Van de Ven. He received the University of Missouri-Columbia Columns Scholarship, the Southeast Missouri State University President's Scholarship, the SEMO Leadership Award, the Biokyowa Scholarship, and a partial scholarship from the Missouri Association for Mutual Insurance Companies.

Meadow Heights High School

Valedictorians: (Tie, no salutatorian) George Brooks Whitlow, 18, of Patton, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Whitlow. George received the Meadow Heights Booster Club Scholarship, the CTA Scholarship, the Trevecca Nazarene University Presidential Scholarship, the Special Enrollment Management Scholarship from Trevecca and the Endowment Scholarship from Trevecca. George will attend Trevecca Nazarene.

Heather Wissore, 18, of Marquand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wissore. Heather received a Booster Club Scholarship, the Security Bank Scholarship, the Southwest Baptist University Provost Scholarship, the Southwest Baptist Flute Scholarship and the Southwest Baptist Vocal Scholarship. She will attend Southwest Baptist University.

Woodland High School

Valedictorian: Julia Cutsinger, 18, of Glenallen, daughter of Walter and Beverly Cutsinger. Julia received the Southeast Missouri State University Regents Scholarship and will attend Southeast.

Salutatorian: (tie) Dana Gillen, 17, of Marble Hill, daughter of Mary Gillen. She received the Woodland PTO Scholarship and the Southeast Missouri State University Regents Scholarship. She will attend Southeast.

Melanie Willis, 18, of Marble Hill, daughter of Marlee Willis, received the Bright Flight Scholarship and the University of Columbia Curator's Scholarship.

Oak Ridge High School

Valedictorian: Kristie Reid, 18, of Oak Ridge, daughter of Hazel and Larry Reid, received the Southern Illinois University Academic Scholarship and the Athletic Booster Scholarship. She will attend the Southern Illinois University and major in business and administration.

Salutatorian: Dusty Statler, 18, of Oak Ridge, son of Randy and Sherri Statler. Dusty received the President's Scholarship, Boy State Scholarship and Leadership Scholarship and will attend Southeast Missouri State University.

Zalma High School

Valedictorian: Lincoln Barr, 18, of Zalma, son of Richard and Tim Barr, will attend Southeast Missouri State University in the fall. Barr received the Governor's Scholarship, Bright Flight Scholarship and the Zalma Businessmen's Scholarship.

Salutatorian: Jeffrey Adam Stoneking, 18, of Zalma, son of Jeff and Christy Stoneking. He will attend Southeast Missouri State University. He received the Southeast Regents Scholarship and the Advance Businessmen's Scholarship.

Meridian High School

Valedictorian: Matthew Lawler, 18, of Mounds, Ill., son of Michael and Jill Lawler. He will attend Southeast Missouri State University in the fall and major in biology. He received the Southeast Governor's Scholarship.

Salutatorian: Detra Nicole Humble, 18, will attend LeMoyne/Owen College in Memphis, Tenn., and major in elementary education. Detra was Senior Class Club President and SIU Upward Bound President.

Century High School

Valedictorian: Bradley Ulrich, 17, of Grand Chain, Ill., son of Kevin and Lisa Ulrich. He will attend the Vanderbilt University in Nashville and major in engineering. Brad received the Engineering Scholarship and Academic Achievement Scholarship from Vanderbilt, the Engineering and Dean's Honorary Scholarship from Washington University, the Engineering Scholarship and Merit Recognition Scholarship from the University of Illinois, the Illinois Elks Scholarship, the Wal-Mart Scholarship, University of Missouri Academic Scholarship, Southern Illinois High School Achievement State Scholar, Valedictorian Shawnee Community College.

Salutatorian: Adam Kohn, 17, of Grand Chain, Ill., son of Steve and Julie Kohn. He received the Merit Recognition Scholarship, was named to the Southern Illinois Society of High School Achievement and was an Illinois State Scholar. Adam will attend the University of Illinois and will major in accounting.

Marquand High School

Valedictorian: Charity Poe, 18, daughter of Linda and Morris Poe, Jr. She will attend Mineral Area College. She received the George Washington Carver Award for excellence in education and the Mary F. Whitener Scholarship.

Salutatorian: Anne Barnes, 18, daughter of Charles and Christine, will also attend Mineral Area College. She received the Mary F. Whitener Scholarship and the Marquand-Zion CTA Scholarship.

Advance High School

Valedictorian: Garrett Broshuis, 18, of Advance, son of Beverly and Rick Brosius. He will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia. He received the Curator's Scholarship and the Bright Flight Scholarship.

Salutatorian: Galen Cooper, 18, of Advance, son of Rhonda and Gary Cooper, will attend Southwest Missouri State University. He received the Board of Governor's Scholarship and the Bright Flight Scholarship.

Charleston High School

Valedictorian: Elizabeth Marie Rolwing, 18, of Charleston, daughter of Michael and Judy Rolwing, will attend Washington University in St. Louis. She received the John and Rita Scheffer Scholarship and Academic Letter for four years.

He received the Southwest Freshman Academic Scholarship, Presidential Scholarship, the Marshall Award, U.S. Reserve Scholar Male Athlete Award, James B. Moran Memorial Scholarship and MFA Foundation Scholarship and Academic Letter for four years.

Kelly High School

Valedictorian: Amber Scherer, 18, of Benton, daughter of Carol Scherer, will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and will major in biology. She received the Vince Hulshof Family and First National Bank of Sikeston Scholarship, the Midcontinent Farmer's Association (MFA) Scholarship, the University of Missouri-Columbia "Spiese Fund in Agriculture" Scholarship and the Four Year Academic Achievement Award.

Salutatorian: Charles Hedge, 18, of Sikeston, son of David and Becky Hedge. He will attend Missouri Tech with a major in computer engineering. He received the Pual Pattengill Scholarship, the University of Missouri-Rolla Scholarship, the Imagine America Scholarship and the Four-Year Academic Achievement Award.

Oran High School

Valedictorian: Heather Cook, 18, of Oran, daughter of Robert and Teresa Cook. Heather plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University. She is an award-winning basketball player and cheerleader.

Salutatorian: Natalie Hatley, 18, of Vanduser, daughter of Mrs. Brenda Hatley. She will attend Southeast Missouri State University. She received the BETA Scholarship at Southeast.

Sikeston High School

Valedictorians: (Tie) Ellen Miller, 18, of Sikeston, daughter of Don and Linda Miller and Kenny and Drew Dement. Ellen will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and major in biomedical engineering. She has received numerous awards including the Xerox Humanities Award and U.S. Army Science Fair Award.

Emily Borgsmiller, 18, of Sikeston, daughter of Stephen and Mary Borgsmiller. She will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia. Emily was senior class treasurer and won an Elks Student of the Month and received the Bright Flight Scholarship.

Stephanie Todt, 18, of Sikeston, daughter of Mike and Sandy Todt. She will attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She was senior class president and received numerous awards, including the Daughters of the American Revolution Award, first place in the Voice of Democracy Oratorical and the Elks International Scholarship state winner.

Sarah Colwick, 18, of Sikeston, daughter of Greg and Lisa Colwick. She will attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She was vice-president of her senior class and has received myriad awards, including Student of the Year.

Blaire Leible, 18, of Sikeston, daughter of Charles and Terri Leible. She will attend Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., and major in communications. She was a treasurer of her senior class, an Elks Student of the Month, selected to attend Missouri Scholars' Academy and a member of National Honor Society.

Notre Dame High School

Valedictorian: Nathan Hirtz, 17, of Campbell, son of Darrall and Patty Hirtz. He will attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in math and computer science. He received the Freshman Engineering Scholarship from the University of Missouri-Columbia, the Southeast Governor's Scholarship, the Gold Award, the Missouri Higher Education Academic Scholarship and the Bright Flight Scholarship.

Salutatorians: (Tie) Amy Essner, 18, of Scott City, daughter of Jerome and Beverly Essner. She will attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in math and computer science. She received the Governor's Scholarship from Southeast, the Missouri Teacher Educational Scholarship, the Missouri Higher Education Academic Scholarship and the Bright Flight Scholarship.

Timothy Robert, 18, of Cape Girardeau, son of Richard and Linda Robert. He will attend the University of Missouri-Rolla and major in chemical engineering. Egyptian High School

Valedictorian: Jessica Shumaker, 17, of Tamms, Ill., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Shumaker. Jessica will attend Shawnee Community College. She received the Shawnee Community College Valedictorian Scholarship and Ambassador Scholarship and the Illinois Merit Recognition Scholarship.

Salutatorian: Erin Malone, 17, of Tamms, Ill., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Van Steele. Erin will attend the University of Illinois and will major in law. She received the University of Illinois Children of Veterans Scholarship and Merit Recognition Scholarship.

Scott City High School

Valedictorian: Justin Bryan Cox, 18, of Scott City, son of Debbie and Bryan Cox. Justin plans on attending Washington University in St. Louis. He was senior class president, received the College Preparatory Studies Certificate, and the George Washington Carver Award.

Salutatorian: Heather Nicole Gresham, 17, of Scott City, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Gresham. She will attend Southeast Missouri State University. She received the College Preparatory Studies Certificate, U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award and the George Washington Carver Award.

Anna-Jonesboro High School

Valedictorian: Leslie Fields, 18, of Anna, son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Malner.

East Prairie High School

Valedictorian: (tie) Conn Q. Davis, 18, of East Prairie, son of Shirley Davis and Chuck and Terri Davis. Conn will attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in medicine. He received the Eric Anderson Scholarship, the Newman Scholarship, the Class of 64 Scholarship, the Beta Club Scholarship, the Grace Campbell Scholarship, the James B. Moran Scholarship, the University of Missouri Freshman Curator's Scholarship, Bright Flight Scholarship and Freshman Engineering Scholarship, the Southeast Missouri State University Governor's Scholarship and Governor's Housing Scholarship and the Union Planters Bank Scholarship.

Karrinn Penrod, 17, of East Prairie, daughter of Ricky and Kerri Penrod. She plans to attend Lambuth University and major in physical therapy. She received the Arpa Hill Lewis Scholarship, the Class of 58 Scholarship, the Lambuth University Achievement Award and Dean's Scholarship.

Salutatorian: Amanda Johnson, 18, of East Prairie, daughter of Charlsie Gilliam and William Johnson. She plans to attend Murray State University and major in physical therapy. She received the "Ideal Senior Girl" Scholarship, the EP Lions Club Scholarship and the Grace Campbell Scholarship.

Chaffee High School

Valedictorian: Jill Marie Little, 18, of Chaffee, daughter of Cathy and Roger Little. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University. She received the Southeast Regent's Scholarship, Dustin Cooper Memorial Scholarship and the National Elk's Scholarship.

Salutatorian: Kristin Nicole Bailey, 18, of Chaffee, daughter of Charles and Teresa Clark and Kent and Faith Bailey. She plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University. She received the Southeast President's Scholarship, Chaffee High School BETA Club Scholarship, the Missouri Leadership Award, the Fred and Hazel Thornton Scholarship and the Mary Hopkins English Award.

Shawnee High School

Valedictorian: Derek Winans of McClure, Ill., son of Beverly Winans. Derek plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in sports medicine. He received scholarships from Shawnee Community College and the University Scholarship from Southeast. Derek recently had his jersey retired at Shawnee South Grade School. His basketball honors include: Shawnee High School's all-time leading scorer (2,035 points), McDonald's All-American First Team nomination, All-State First Team IBCA, All-State Second Team AP, South Egyptian Conference MVP, Southern Illinois Co Player of the Year, Illinois Slam Dunk Champion.

Salutatorian: Dasha Mehrle of McClure, Ill., daughter of Pam Mehrle. She will attend Shawnee Community College before transferring to St. Louis College of Pharmacy for a pharmaceutical degree. She received scholarships given by Shawnee Community College and the Daughters of the American Revolution Citizenship Award.

Cairo High School

Valedictorian: Michael Futrell Simelton of Cairo, Ill., son of Ms. Katherine Simelton and Mr. Micheal Futrell. Michael plans to attend Shawnee Community College and transfer to Southern Illinois University after two years.

Salutatorian: April Austin of Cairo, Ill., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Austin. April holds memberships in the National Beta Club, Math Team, Student Council, WYSE and Upward Bound. She has accepted a full scholarship to attend Southern Illinois University and major psychology.

Perryville High School

Valedictorian: Renee Schlichting, 18, of Frohna, daughter of Roger and Chrstine. She will attend Truman State University in Kirksville. She received the Truman State Leadership and Combined Ability Scholarship, the National Honor Society Scholarship, Perryville Athletic Club Scholarship and Union Planters Bank Scholarship. She was named cross country and track team MVP.

Salutatorian: Kristopher Kueker, 18, of Perryville, son of Steve and Jane. He will attend Truman State University. Kris received Truman State's Gen. John J. Pershing Scholarship, and the Perryville High School Alumni Association Award. He is a member of Future Business Leaders of America.
