JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Quentin Wilson, Gov. Bob Holden's cabinet director, has been named acting commissioner for the Department of Higher Education.
Wilson has been granted a leave of absence from the governor's office during his six-week appointment, which began Tuesday, the Coordinating Board for Higher Education said. Former commissioner Kala Stroup resigned, effective Sunday, to become president of American Humanics in Kansas City. While Wilson fills in, the coordinating board plans to choose an interim commissioner for higher education.
