Sikeston man sentenced for crack charges

A Sikeston, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court in Cape Giraardau to 5 years and three months in prison for a felony count of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. Mario J. Baker, 20, received the sentence Monday.

According to court records, on June 29, Sikeston police stopped Baker on a traffic violation. A search of the vehicle revealed 7.8 grams of cocaine base.

Man pleads guilty to weapons charge

A convicted felon admitted Monday that he was carrying a .44 caliber revolver with him when his car was pulled over by police Sept. 13.

Shalimar M. Ross, 25, pleaded guilty in federal court in Cape Girardeau to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Ross was convicted of burglary and battery in 1997 and possession of a controlled substance in 2001.

He now faces up to 10 years in prison and at $250,000 fine.

Dunklin County man pleads guilty to meth

A Dunklin County man is facing a possibility of 30 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court in Cape Girardeau Monday to three felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine.

Kenny O. Medley, 33, admitted Monday that he sold meth to an informant on three different occasions. Each sale occurred in Kennett, Mo.

Medley will be sentenced July 8. His maximum possible sentence is 30 years in prison and up to $2 million in fines.
